hen rustling in York
« on: November 06, 2009, 12:57 »
Hi,

A neighbour had some chicken food stolen yesterday. He followed the footprints in the morning dew to a nearly wood. He found some 'fancy' chickens being held there. He told me as i have some lavender araycunas. Mine are fine but i wondered if anyone near me had lost some chickens. He said fancy sussexs and lavender chickens. I'm near York. East side.

I don`t want to sound racist but east european illegal imagants were  steeling swans and ducks of lakes and canals, chooks would be easy for them, i don`t think they steal to sell they are for food.  So you are lucky to get them back

Sadly not all predators are 4 legged >:(
We have 17 chickens, 3 quail, 2 dogs, 3 cats and that's enough (for this week)

Fred, that is a very old urban myth.
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

i would have reported that find to the police, they may be someones pets, and if they are not then no harm done.

Its not an urban myth that people where camped out along the Daresbury express way in Runcorn they camped because they could`nt get work, they could`nt sign on, no work no housing, no work no food so when you are hungry what do you do especially if there is a canal on your door step with wild mallards you eat them.   if theres chickens near by you eat them.    its called survival.   Simples

A breeder near me had lots of her hens stolen. The thieves load them up from their arks at night, into a lorry, and away to the M1. Dreadful.

I live to the east of York and am very concerned about this. I do think the police should be notified. As TMG says if it all turns out to be innocent then no harm done. However, it does at least appear that feed was stolen. :(
