Seed potatoes to plant in May?
« on: May 07, 2013, 18:40 »
My potatoes are just showing through but I seem to have some gaps - most likely rotted in the cold damp we have suffered this year.

Are there any seed potatoes I could plant in the gaps now and would I be better going for a 1st early, 2nd or main? Any particular named varieties?  I already have Lady Crystl, Kestrel, a Sarpo variety and Orla.

It may well be a matter of "beggars can't be chosers" and you may have to take what you can find - if any.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I haven't seen any for weeks on sale so I wouldnt have thought you'd be in luck now. Maybe try a garden centre sometimes they seem to run later than other shops

Loads and loads for sale in our local wyevale yesterday.
When weeding, the best way to know if its a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull it.

If it comes out easy, it was a valuable plant !
