Favourite 3 months on the plot
« on: November 22, 2010, 12:46 »
Whats your favourite months and why?

Mine are January, April and August.

January :- I like January because it's a fresh start, all mistakes made (and hopefully learned from) can be put behind you with a new and improved start anticipated.

April :-I like April because this is the month when it's getting warmer and the days are beginning to last longer.
Also it's the time when i begin putting things out onto the plot and in the green house.

August :-I like August because everything is in full growth, my plot never looks as good as it does this month.
Almost every part is in the green and fruits are plumping up ready for cropping, "and it's warm"

There my 3 favourites, how about yours?

Andy

it has to be

March when the ground starts to dry up and you can get cultivating the ground ready for planting. everything starts to look as though its getting ready for spring after ones been cooped up indoors through the winter months freedom the lottie's open for business again

April overwintered cabbage and cauliflower starting to fill out now able to walk on the ground without wearing muddy wellingtons birds are nesting its really feeling like you want to be outside

may getting ready to plant out some brassicas getting much warmer seeds are starting  to show through every things looking fresh weeds are growing well  could even be tempted to take ones coat off

I like...............
April because the whole season is in front of you and the worst of the weather is behind us.
July because everytime I leave the plot I have a bulging bag of produce.
December. its nice to look back over the year and think about your success and also change things so that your failures don't get repeated.

For me November, December, January as there's nothing to do on the plot and I can catch up with some other things that have probably waited from the previous winter

Then those 3 months are not your favourite 'on the plot' as they are not on it

I would say March and April as the two months when you can enjoy starting nearly everything off from scratch, and July as the month when you have done nearly all the hard work and the payback for your efforts is in full swing.  :)
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

Feb because you have hopefully got a nicely dug plot ready to plant in - full of promise
April - stuff starting to go into the ground or being sown ready to plant out.
July - taking stuff home - hopefully most of the hard work is done.

November - because I've finally got the lottie weeded and tidied and there are still lovely 'snips, marrows and sprouts to come.
March - so full of hope and anticipation! And back breaking work to come!
September - Yup, the mists and fruitfulness and the sun still has warmth!
