i bought four fruit trees in Asda yesterday for £1.50 each. 2 Bramley's 1 plum and a commice pear. is it too late to plant them this year?

they should be fine. Just make sure you give the roots a good overnight soak before planting them

Do you know which rootstocks they are on?

That will dictate partly where they should be planted.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

If they are the same varieties as we had in our local Asda, they are trees that will grow about ten to twelve feet in height

Just resist the temptation to "pamper" them by putting lots of compost or manure in the hole.  At this time of year it could mean a soggy sump for their roots to rot in.  Treat them mean and keep them keen, you want them to put out strong roots not stagnate in the same 12" for the next few years.

doesn't say which rootstock, but height 1.5 - 3m depending on pruning or not. at £1.50 a pop you have to try. i already have  a jonagold an elstar and crab apple , commice and conference pear and either a sweet cherry or a plum i planted last year (1 died, not sure which) so pollination should be ok, only frost to worry about.
