Sloe bush/plant

I'm trying to get hold of a single blackthorn or sloe - rather than having to buy about 50 or so to make a hedge.

Local garden centres, bless them, don't stock them at all. Local Wyevale said "It's not really a garden centre plant..." Pillocks. The web hasn't come up with anything either.

Any thoughts? All part of the birthday campaign.

Cheers.

Yes - to make sloe gin. But as the damson is looking cr*p I thought I'd replace it with a sloe and have fruit on site.

I might go out and find a bush take some cuttings. But it's like most things, you can never find one when you want one.

I'll have a butcher's when out on my bike.

Plant a few sloes.

I'm pretty sure something like blackthorn wouldn't be grafted.

My local garden centre stocks Sloes (blackthorn) plants.  Along with hawthorne for hedging

However they are supposed to root fairly easily from cuttings so check out your local hedgerows, snap a few twigs and give it a go what have you got to lose.
