I was in the shop today and saw Potatoes first earlies, second earlies but I hear people talking about main crops.

Is the main crop the second earlies? If not how do you know when something is for main crop and When would you plant out the second earlies if you had only just planted out potatoes that didn't state first or second?

The main crop are the pnes you harvest last and store for use over winter.

Oh and first and second earlies tend to be your salad type potatoes.

I bought some Maris Piper and some Queens today say second early when is the latest I can plant these out as I want to keep these as the main crop then? I'm thinking your saying plant them out now and just leave them  If what I think your saying first and second don't matter if I leave them in longer to get bigger.

Have I got that right?
