should I pot on leeks

I planted my leeks in a tray evenly spaced out.  In the last couple of weeks growth as stopped Do they need more root space.  Should I put them intob large modules?  4" high and no thickening yet.  :(

It's more likely that they want a feed, the nutrients in the compost could well have run out.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Is it common for leeks and all alliums to get to the size of a blade of grass, and then do nothing for about 2-3 weeks?

I can seem to grow them, they just seem to keel over......
When weeding, the best way to know if its a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull it.

If it comes out easy, it was a valuable plant !

Yes, and the weather isn't helping this year. Besides, you aren't going to eat them for months so they've plenty of time to grow  :)

I grow leeks and onions from seed in the same way - spaced as evenly as I can manage in deep ex-supermarket meat containers.

One year I found that many of the onion seedlings mysteriously collapsed and died but that hasn't happened nearly as often since I took care to keep the compost no more than moist. I can only assume they are prone to damping off.

Leeks seem more robust, although the "blade of grass" syndrome is very familiar to many on this forum! Agree with DD that feeding is a good idea as they have probably been in the tray for a few months at least. A liquid feed is much easier than trying to incorporate a dry fertiliser into the soil with close-growing leeks (quicker too!)
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

One of the best things about being an orang-utan is the fact that you don't lose your good looks as you get older

I have the same issue with mine in that they haven't done a lot for a couple of weeks at least. I have given them a feed with baby bio, is this suitable or should I use something a bit richer?

Baby Bio Original should do the trick just fine.

I have planted out half of my leeks today under netting that were sown 23 Feb squashed into a seed tray and germinated 10 March. They have kept growing  for a couple of months, now standing at 10 inches tall, and I put that down to the light in the greenhouse, compared with last year's slow growth at home.
They were not necessarily the thickness of a "pencil", but I have a feeling they'll do fine. The other half are thinned and put in the greenhouse base for a week as a form of temporary potting on, just to check their progress against the other brave souls

My leeks are in modules, exposed to the rain today....

Will the thorough soaking kill them off, or are they tolerant to a point?

My leeks seem to be loving it. Infact they are stood bolt upright and looking lovely.  :D
