Comfrey Tea taste....
« on: June 03, 2015, 09:12 »
Hi guys,

I fed the plot with comfrey tea a few days back and took a lettuce from the polytunnel, and it tasted like manure.

Can you get the taste out?
When weeding, the best way to know if its a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull it.

If it comes out easy, it was a valuable plant !

  oh yuck - it's absolutely vile - never tasted it but the smell was bad enough to put me off ever making comfrey tea again! I expect it will fade but I would leave it a few days/a week or two before eating any more lettuces.
Instead of making tea with it I now just chop up the leaves and spread them around the plants. All the benefits without the smell (or taste)

MMmmmm, I was also going to say, did you water the plants with it?  If you water the soil, then I don't usually get any bad tastes.

However, much of the time now, I too chop up the leaves and spread them around, or put them in trenches before planting stuff.  Theoretically the goodness will last longer that way? But I could be wrong!!  I often am!
