Cant take credit for it - hubby sorting these out - would seem his 'heck i should water them/do something plan is working.

going to cook the big one on its own in some butter - would be a shame to do anything else with it as its on its own

The only thing I grew successfully last year from a mushroom kit was thousands of tiny flies, like fleas.  itching now!  and about three mushrooms.  binned it becoz I couldn't cope with the flies everywhere.

I got a cheap one from Woolies last year, achieved nothing.  Have done it before about 20 years  and was very successful.

We got a Woolies one just after Christmas, it did b*gger all until we moved it into the bathroom - where we have a bit of a damp problem - and then we had loads!  :D

Determined not to fail I went to the garden center and read all the packs of seeds they can take up to 40 days to appear so all is not lost

Might move them into the bathroom but apart from putting them in the bath I am going to struggle

we had a woolies kit, i saw tiny little white mushrooms and watered carefully as directed, hubby went to water them one day and told me i'd been watering bits of polystyrene that had fallen off of the case!!!
if it grows, it grows! if it doesnt ,, ah well .. there's always next year. :-)

Mushroom kits have a definite shelf life, and have to be stored right from the moment there inoculated. The older the kit the less likely they are to go properly.

Right I took the mushroom by the horns and did something drastic

I got hubby to empty the bottom half of the compost bin (the bit full of horse poop from last year) into an empty bin, then I threw the mushroom kits in on top along with another half pack of mushroom seeds.

Nothing to loose I have given up on them anyway, I watered the bottom poop layer and stuck the lid on and walked away

Watch this space
