It's inclined to bolt. Took my lovely little plants about 10 mins to bolt after I'd planted them out. So I've planted some peppers instead.
I'll wait until there's room in the shady bed.
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

Plant chard instead, my lot prefer it when its been wilted in garlic butter for a few seconds, never or rarely bolts and will produce all year.

Yep i gave up spinach after the first year and started to grow chard instead, its great when you give some away to people and they think its rhubarb. What sheltered lives they live.

Spinach is on probation with me ... last chance.  Direct sown to avoid transplanting, shady spot.   So far so good I must say but I have healthy stocks of chard in place too.

Better than transplant and sun, but yes, I reckon.

Do try chard but if, like me, you regard spinach as a challenge, try direct sowing in light shade around mid- to late-July.  There are winter hardy varieties too but ordinary varieties should work.

We have a bit of garden at the front of the house that only gets sun from 4pm onwards, so might try some there.... even thought the missus wants pretty flowers
