I know how you feel.  I planted my potatoes on Monday, the foxes dug them up on Tuesday, and I re-planted potatoes on Wednesday, this time covering them with membrane and weighing it down with bricks. I seem to spend more time constructing cages, net covers and barriers than actually digging, sowing and planting.

I covered mine this year as soon as I planted with scaffolding safety net fine mesh over water pipe arched.  The broccoli did grow to top and most were touching net and slightly bent over but did the job no problem this year picking plenty now. Two years ago I tried to grow but did not cover did not have any can only assume pigeons had what there was if any.  :)

The great thing about envioromesh tunnels is that it keeps butterflies and pigeons out. Pollinators such as hover flies find a way in so thats ok.

I posted a thread earlier this year about my brassica woes, difficulty growing then on past seedling stage. I don't know what I did right but cabbages and sprouts are well with sprout buttons coming along well.

My Cauliflowers are superb too. They were bought as baby plants from Aldi and have produced 15 brilliant heads. We eat some and freeze some. Plenty of lime seems to be the key to success.

I still have yet to get a good cauli crop from seed but one day I will.....perhaps.
