i was thinking of getting some from here as they seem rather cheap,

out of intrested do bare rooted trees do worse than those supplied in a pot or bag of compost tide round the roots?

PS - They are cheap blackthorn.  i think the bare rooted ones normally come with a bag of compost tied around the root anyway. Just make sure if you get a bare rooted one you put it in water as soon as receiving it.  Normally best to soak in water overnight before planting out.  My Blackthorn i put in last year was bare rooted and all have taken very well, although may be a few years before i see any fruit.

Depends what the rootstock is.
I got some cherries from the dreaded T that grow to 3.5metres, apparently they need 10m between each tree.
We use chemicals in this garden, just as god intended

Depends what the rootstock is.

I Called Lidl and they sent me a letter with the rootstock info:

Apples: 'M9' Dwarf Rootstock

Cherry: 'Colt' Rootstock, has uniform growth patterns and is semi vigourous

Pears: 'Quince A' Rootstock

Plums: 'St Julian' A Rootstock or 'Myrobolane' Rootstock, virus free ans semi vigourous growth
