potatoes well up should i cover the leaves

i was wondering if i should cover the leaves of my spuds as i read this promotes tuber growth and not leaf growth.they have burst through the mounds i made.what do you think :unsure:

The object of earthing up is to prevent any tubers getting into the light and turning green. So just make sure the mounds are quite wide so any shallow tubers are covered. You might need to water them if it's dry round your way.
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

It depends on what type of potatoes they are when they are due for harvest etc? I have done mine in pots and bags this year so when the pots full I have no choice but to stop but in the ground its harder to know when to stop  :D

Potatoes are usually 'earthed up'. This is to stop the newly forming potatoes from turning green and to protect the top growth from being damaged by late frosts.
So yes, if you still have mulch or more earth that you can use, then carry on earthing up for a while.
Frosts were forecast for here tnight, so more earthing up for me earlier  :(

Same here, frost wise. Earthed up as high as they can go now tho'  :blink:

Earthed mine up due to frost forecast too.

Once the threat is passed I wont need to as noshed put so well in her reply
