Yellow leaves on potatoes
« on: June 23, 2010, 12:38 »
I have been growing potatoes in buckets most years without much of a problem.

This year one of my plants looks like this:

I searched and didn’t find a similar problem that was described like this

Hopefully its just under fed/crowded rather then diseased!

Just a bit strange as its in the same bucket as another plant thats doing fine (Ialways plant 2x tubers per bucket and always get a good crop)

Let me know what you think!

It looks like a mineral deficiency to me.

Give them some potato fertiliser (or general fertilisser).

I agree with Aunt Sally, it looks like a sulphur deffiency, this would cause the new growth to go yellow and the old growth to stay green which is what is happening, often caused in a prolonged dry spell which we have had recently.

Ill copy the thingy on the internet,

Sulfur (S)
•Symptoms: New growth turns pale yellow, older growth stays green. Stunts growth.
•Sources: Compounds containing the word 'sulfate'.
•Notes: More prevalent in dry weather.

Hope this helped :)

Hmm ok,

Just seems odd as they are in the same bucket - unless the other plant in there is a stronger and gobbling it all up for itself! heh

And for info they a Charlottes and have been in 10-12 weeks

I will try some feed and see if it picks up

Cheers
