garlic foliage
« on: February 04, 2014, 20:12 »
A lot of last years small garlic has started to re sprout can I plant them in a cat litter tray and grow them for as green? I have planted fresh bulbs in raised beds as the plot has white rot. The garlic that I want to use was not affected.

Just wondered if a cat litter tray would be deep enough? I'm no expert but my best guess would be that a minimum of 8cm deep would be needed.

Rememeber to put drainage holes in the base of the tray if it is deep enough. Throw away the compost at the end because it may well be infected if you are using older garlic.

Good luck.

I am only looking to grow them for the greens, like a garlic chive type . I don't want them for bulbs and they will be well fed with comfrey tea

i think that the garlics bio clock knows it should be growing ..i have grown loadsof garlic and they always have large root systems long before the top grows dont know if one effects the other but as said earlier the either will or wont
