last pressing.

The last cider pressing today, run out of apples   :(,only 35 galls. this year about 40% down on previous years, what a rubbish summer!!
A major refurb. is needed on the cider press, started leaking apple juice where it shouldn't and the scrabbler needs attention too, thank heavens we managed to finish otherwise the son," Kit The Quiet" would have been bereft.
Still a lot to look forward to, no g/k's tonight, P.O.G. time.

Wow that a major undertaking managed to do about 10 gals this year . Felt sorry for the commercial growers tho  Next door to us the lost 10% of the crop to the wet just could not get the equipment into the orchards and the apples were rotting on the ground whilst they were also down on volume and sugar. :(
This is the first age that has ever paid much attention to the future which is ironic since we may not have one !(Arthur c Clarke)

Likewise ilan, I usually have around 12 galls. from 14 stone of apples  10 galls. for cider and 2 galls, for wine but this year we were lucky if we got 10 galls. from our 14 stones of apples'much of the fruit was really small in size too!!
Never mind always next year. ;)
