Right that does it im going to use my contacts from MAFF just outside York to see if they have any GM ones in stock.
I'm very important. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.

Do you think it would cross with a bindweed ?

Straight up 50' by the end of May ???

ps. I've bought a generic packet from Wilkos for 50p as a control. Now I need to find the Goliath Godzilla Mammoth Giant variety.

I've just sown 5 of the wilkos seeds in paper pots in the greenhouse now.

I have the same seeds as you Rob but I got mine for 25p !!  :)

I'll have to get hold on some big varietys as well but it will be interesting to see what the wilkos ones are like and what the germination will be like.

I'm hanging fire on the sowing for a couple fo weeks. They show outdoor sowing from March on but there's some pretty cold weather coming in which may or may not linger.
I'm going to use the heated propogator for them and give them an early boost. Need to source a good liquid feed too. That's what makes them big or gigantic.

I hear Wilko's sell seed quite cheaply  ;) :D
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Here is an idea - how about we all grow at least 2 different varieties. One of Wilko's own generic and another of our own choosing?

I'll horrify you all by saying I plan to grow sunflowers to cut for the house this year.  Wouldn't it be funny if I get a mahogany 16-footer? :tongue2:

I'm sure you'll all be laughing at me as I sweep up pollen from the old-fashioned sorts!

The smaller ones make lovely cut flowers, my OH like the "Teddy Bear" ones the best.

Good for you carrot cruncher.

Good solid soil in swindon. We used to live there and had a nice lake on the back lawn every time it rained !

But fertile and once the roots are in, they won't fall over  :)

I have access to some lovely rotted poultry manure and may get some rotted horse muck too. If they don't go beyond the world record, I'll be disappointed.

Check the OP for the contenders folks.

I severely hope nobody has panted before this weekend.
