Feed from Weeds, interesting link
« on: June 02, 2006, 11:57 »
I was trying to find more information about soapwort since I was trying to grow it from seed (mostly just wanted to find out what the seedlings look like. I just got a crop of weeds instead. bah!) and I found this instead:
Plants to the rescue of plants
Various sprays/feed recipes, all made from plants.
There IS a use for horsetail/marestail! I've been putting any bits I pull up in our rusty wheelbarrow to dry out so I can try the fermented feed sometime. I hopefully won't ever get as much horsetail as needed for the fresh decoction! I have seen a few plots in our allotment that could probably do it though
wistfully hoping to one day be mostly organic gardener in North London.

anyone tried any of these fermentations/infusions yet?  ive made an infusion of rhubarb leaves which im gonna try as the anti-herbivore spray that the website suggests.  hope it works.  my allotment land also has many of the other suggested plants readily available - ivy, nettles, tansy, lemon balm, horsetail, comfrey.  cant wait to see if they work.  the scientist in me wants to do experiments and spray eg half my radish with the infusions and half without.
Time is natures way of stopping everything happening at once

Link doesn't work for me, sorry.  I just get a home page with some $200 marmites!

Try the lower left side of the homepage, WG and you'll see loads of Au Jardin entries (in English just for you  ). Some lovely gardening pages in there.
