For everyone who is interested, I finally got rid of the little pest.  How?  I listened to the Trouble and Strife for once.  When the molehills first appeared she told me to hammer a stake into every molehill.  Of course I took no notice, preferring to ask for advice on this site.
Having no luck at all I eventually resorted to hammering in the stakes.  The next morning another molehill appeared.  I hammered another stake in, feeling sure I was wasting my time. I left the stakes in place for a month, and had no more molehills.  I have since removed them.  Still no molehills. Luck?  Who knows?

We have moles on our site but the ppl have told me they are good, is this true?

Also they have said the mounds of soil they make everywhere is top quality stuff and some ppl go round collecting it, again is this true?

They must be the dreaded Transylvanian vampire moles then..... hope you planted garlic at the same time!! :shock:
