Popped down before work for a check-up. Everything OK but the pea and cabbage seedlings in the poly tunnel were frozen solid...

Just sown another batch of toms and chillis

and in a rash moment   ???

I decided to sow a small batch of lettuce and celeriac

I'm determined to get a celeriac to grow enough so that I can actually eat it.

More big work finished at the plot in the snow today... Fitted all the glass in the greenhouse. No breakages.. wow!!  So all the big work is nearly finished now. I still have to level of an old sort of compost and shrubs heap of something and convert it into a covered storage area and lay all the broken slabs as a floor. Then the digging can resume.

There's a couple of clues in your post.

Whilst peas, beans & leeks don't require heat to germinate, frozen = no germination.

A seed is an embryonic plant.  To use an analogy, human embryos are frozen to stop them developing until the time is right.

???Gav

What are you going to do with the pipes and your leeks?

Sorry it was just a joke - I was driving in Manchester and saw these huge pipes on a building site... so I took a pic with my phone as a joke..

Not a sausage on the plot today - shame as I have some time to spare... but it poured last night.  ::)

I wandered down to put my seed order in and pick up some seed potatoes at our allotment shop. The shop was open but no seed pots in as they didn't get delivered due to bad weather.  Oh well, I got my seed order in and will try again next week.

Looked at the plot and picked up some bits from the shed but couldn't really do anything as the whole plot was covered in snow so came home.
