It was such a lovely sunny day, so as the ground was to wet to dig over, I moved about 8 wheelbarrow loads of topsoil from the heap I have into a raised bed.

Took a half day at work yesterday to go to the plot and take delivery of the scaffold boards I ordered and got a pleasant shock  :D

I ordered 70 x 4M boards from a local scaffolding company who charged me just £1 a board plus £15 delivery, but when the lorry arrived there was 126 boards! Still paid the same price of £85 for the lot.

I suddenly became very popular on the plot with people queuing up to ask if they can buy some from me.

With the help of a friend and 7 fellow plot holders, I got my money's worth of boards on to my plot and gave the remaining boards away for free as a thanks for their help.

Now I've just got to figure how to cut them to size

covered 2 of my 3mtr by 4mtr beds with about 12inches of leaf mould and manuar, covering another tomorrow and the last 1 with about 10inches of leaf mould and compost for my roots, then on sunday im going to empty my pallet compost bin into my bean trench, thats all my prep done until springtime when i have to dig it all in, all the leaves are weighed down with the manuar and the rest will be with compost and netted, im trying to raise the ground and break it up as its only a spit and a bit deep and its clay soil.

Still far to wet at the plot so not much going on for me today, don't think I've been this far behind with the digging !  Oh well will catch up eventually, couldn't waste the time so went out collecting leaves around the village to make some nice mould :D
Optimism probably a gardeners best tool.

Walked up the garden path with the laundry and back again still carrying it... rain started.  :(

Might hunt out some waterproofs and clear some of the summer bedding in the back-garden.

Or maybe read a book.

Weeded the raspberry bed and sprinkled on some blood, fish and bone.  Don't know whether that's right but it seemed appropriate at this time of year.
Tidied the shed, managed to wrestle the tunnel cloches into submission and luckily found a box into which they fitted very snugly so there is no chance of them escaping.
Same with the rolls of plastic netting, they went behind the shed until spring.
Took the plastic cloche/tent thing apart and back in its box.
I even swept the hut floor. Still didn't find my ph meter though.
Tidied up for winter, lets hope it is a better year next year.

Put the Garlic in today, managed to prep up a bed still very wet but had the bulbs for quite a while and wanted to get it in, four variety's may have over done it a bit!!  :nowink: Things may be a bit smelly in our house next year

Put gooser bushes in new beds. Had dug in loads of rotted manure and was waiting for bushes to arrive.
Put in new rhubarb crowns (hopefully the right way up) again after digging in loads of manure.
Covered (very) raised beds with black plastic after topping up with compost. They are now ready for the squashes next year.
Dug over last bed ready for leaving the frost tomdomitsnwork.
Went home tired but happy.  :D
I have my own cement mixer and not afraid to use it!!

Planted half a kilo Aquadulce broad beans, enough for a 30 foot row. The seed is two years old so we`ll see.
I`m left handed, what`s your excuse?

Dug out soil from second greenhouse (belonged to my Dad and frame survived being transported from Ramsgate to dartford on the back of a truck - minus glass obviously) and took loads of bags of soil to lottie as the ground the greenhouse was erected on in my garden wasn't that good.
Managed to top up one bed completely so added some compost, gave it a forking over and covered for the winter. Will be used for squash and courgettes next year,
Thanks Dad  :D

I went mad with the secateurs, discovering what was lurking in my new plot between the weeds, I found 8-12 Raspberry plans, and Mint EVERYWHERE

I can now see the soil.

I needs to dig out all the weeds, but the soil is sooo wet, and the rain chased me back home!
