Popped down at 9.30 this morning and as others have said it was pretty hot even then!  Managed to plant my remaining outdoor cucumbers and some more peas i started at home, hoed most of a bed and at this point decided it was all a bit daft given the heat so went home!

Came back at 7pm to harvest some spuds and other bits for tea, then did a bit of watering - just those newly planted bits and a bit that i've sown some dwarf bean seeds in.  It's a lovely place to be in the early evening!

Dug up more potatoes (Kestrel) and sizes ranged between golf ball and half-size rugby ball!

Sowed turnip seeds, gave the raised beds a top-up with gro-more and drenched the runner beans and newly planted leeks with water.

I have my own cement mixer and not afraid to use it!!

Me too... and then I dug some potatoes, lifted some carrots, pulled a few beetroots, cut some roses before belting home again.

Couldn't stay down there too long - the weeds were depressing.

When I get my next nearly whole day off I really must get the plot tidy as it is the worst it has ever been.   :(

cut some more blighted tops off the spuds, and weeded the sweetcorn, watered seedling rows
The few squash that actually lived are finally putting a spurt on  :)

Built a raised bed for No.2 plot. On No.1 plot weeded the brassica bed and harvested broad beans and rhubarb.

Weeded the asparagus bed, strimmed the veg bed paths, and did other things on the flower and hedge areas. Picked lots of raspberries and dwarf French beans for tea.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

Took all my garlic from the GH and tided it all up... cut and frozen some and made 2 jars of chopped garlic and packed full with oil. My son has already nicked a bottle!!!

It's been a strange year for most veg and especially garlic... some cloves went to stalks whilst some never cloved at all (in foreground of pic) ... no probs tho as it means we have some large garlics !! The larger type bulbed but was not to full size before I had to pull it all up due to the rain!!

Nice garlic ^^

Also pulled some of my garlic today and was amazed that most of them had cloved after me thinking they hadn't.  No greenhouse to dry them in so hung them in the shed.  Harvested very decent carrots and broad beans.

Pulled two rows of peas up.  I'd class them as a first time failure, small, deformed and stunted.  Can only be the weather as I used different seeds.

Cleared the last of the peas and all but one row of potatoes - left the spuds in too long though and have had to throw most of them  >:(

Tidied the strawberry bed and potted some more runners up ready for next year.

Used weedkiller on the paths

Oh - i also ate my first ever home grown blueberry!!!

Cleared out my garlic raised bed and then planted up with some purple sprouting brocolli -cheated bought them from the local garden centre. Prepared bed by adding some spent mushroom compost and adding hoops covered with debris netting. Fingers crossed this was my best crop in the spring almost too prolific!

Cheers HH

Keep digging

Continued with the lasagne bed for the squashes. Planted 6 more through the membrane. gave them a good water into the bottles I 'planted' at the side of each plant. Then I watered the ones I planted on Sunday, they have picked up well. Then watered the leeks I planted out last Saturday.
