dug most of the trench to put the polytunnel in. Sieved some soil for my bean bed. Moved some more stuff from old plot to new plot and shifted a few more wooden pallets onto the plot in readiness for making a fence. I'm really building some muscles now lol.

At home I put my cucumbers outside for the day. Will bring them back in each evening.

Just went down to the plot today to weed the beds again. Everything progressing well except I lost another cauliflower seedling, that's four that have died and I only planted ten.
Never grown them before so no idea why they are dying.
At home planted out petunias in the front garden. Sowed another batch of Drawf Runner Beans Safari (last one succumbed to the frost).

Transferred dozens of tomato, aubergine and pepper plants to the greenhouse at the lottie, having potted them on this afternoon.

Planted up chitted sweetcorn and baby sweetcorn today at last.  Discovered our hundredweight pumpkins have also appeared (including ones I planted for the playgroup).

I am sure the broad beans have grown two inches since the weekend with this rain!

Yesterday I sowed the winter squash, pumpkin and courgette seeds, as well as the borlotti bean and dwarf cannaloni bean seeds, all in modules in the heated greenhouse at home

Got some decent sized modules for the pumpkins

and this year the cucumbers are all in square pots, so that I don't get them mixed up with other curcurbits again this year

Potted on my squashes today; mixed original germinations. "Buttercup" and "Blue Banana" have done well and "Total Eclipse" Patty Pan which I am growing instead of courgettes this year. Others, not so good.

Broad beans have all gone to line slug stomachs. Must. Buy. Nematodes.
I think most of mine have too.  I put my misplaced trust in the local hedgehog and he/she let me down. ::)  So much for being organic this year, it's nets and the blue pellets of death again, they never let me down. 8)

No self respecting hedgehog would go far from the dry of its nest in the constant downpours we've had this month. (not without an umbrellla).

It's a wonder land slugs and snails aren't developing gills like their watery cousins. The rain hasn't stopped them in my garden either. Just wait until it gets warmer.... blue pellet sales will rocket!!!

Am deliberately staying away from the plot today. I had a look round my flat last night and realised that this allotment lark is having a seriously detrimental affect on my housework. So time to catch up. Which begs the question, why am I sat here surfing an allotment forum and drinking coffee when I have a pile of ironing to do?

Hi
Lovely day in South Lincolnshire warm and no rain  :) Sowed 24 pots of runner beans, 24 pots of french beans and various squashes and pumkins. Then spent over an hour taking broken glass out of my plot
Cheers
Jim
