All the way from my allotment in beautiful Derbyshire. I'm in year 3 of my allotment and wish I'd caught the bug years ago, things growing from strength to strength

Quick 2 hours on the plots today - rotovated ready to plant peas and beans. weeded a bit.
any reason to just rotovate? - yes my wife has expressed the wish to come to the plot to help plant peas and beans and she detests the smell and sound of the rotovator, so thats now done ready.

Harvested my radishes; OH is going to make a fancy salsa with them. Like diggingK it is the first thing I have eaten so far from the beds  :D

Put out 2 rows of komatsuna; thought that I ought to check that I like the taste before putting it in the PVC bed for winter  ::)

Sowed Rocket seed where I had had the radish and then sowed some more radish 'patches' around the place.

Gave the nematodes an encouraging water and then....... netted the potatoes.... just incase

At home today. Have planted out geraniums, antirrhinums into pots ready to go out. Also planted  French Marigolds in the borders.

Planted lobelia into the large circular bed along with 4 fuschias.

The big pots have had the top few inches of compost removed and fresh compost added.

Have put out all the annuals in a secluded spot to harden off.

And finally tidied the shed.

Took advantage of morning sunshine and fine weather to start  to remove fast growing  weeds from my slowly emerging seedlings.
Retired but never short of a job.

Finally finished washing the pots. Went to the allotment to start planting the 2nd earlies, but it so looked like it was going to pour down that I hoed the raspberries so I could run to the shed if needed, then when it still didn't rain I went on to sprinkle pelleted chicken manure on the winter onions & garlic, then hoed it all in before coming home. The potatoes can wait til next week.

Hi all it's dodge the showers down here in Hampshire.
Yesterday I dug over my new bean bed really easy as I had covered it in black plastic for a few months.
Today I cleared out my purple sprouting brocolli and extended the bed so it's ready for sweetcorn. Just put some old seeds into the airing cupboard to chit if they are ok I will put them into root trainers in a couple of days from now.

Pleased I put up my guttering on the shed for my water butt as the rain is filling it every day

Cheers HH
Keep digging

Had a great day on the plot yesterday in the end.  We had a long shower in the morning, but by 11am this had stopped and the sun stayed out all day (we all ended up with a touch of sunburn at the end of the day!).

We:

-Weeded all the beds including the carrot pot
-Set up a drip watering system in the greenhouse
-Planted french beans, borlotti and second batch of broad beans
-Harvested some broccolli and lettuce
-Transplanted some spring onion, rocket and salad plugs into the bed
-Planted another batch of potatoes
-Sprayed garlic (starting to show symptoms of rust) with garlic spray
-Sprayed broad beans, cabbages, broccolli, salads and onions with liquid seaweed
-Planted some new raspberries
-Harvested chives, mint and parsley
-Fitted a tap to a new water butt for the greenhouse

Quite surprising that we managed to get so much done - especially with our 3 and 4 year olds in tow!

Finally sowed a few rows of carrot, parsnip, beetroot and leeks. Dug and raked the salad/ bean bed. It's still not very warm but at least I've made a start.
