Saturday eventually got round to installing my water butt on the plot.
Other half helped me  add the guttering to one and a half sides of the shed.
Amazed to find that the guttering etc cost as much as the price of the water butt.
All I need now is some rain to make all the incvestment worthwhile!!

Sunday just picked some purple sprouting brocolli for dinner.

Cheers HH
Keep digging

Finished digging over the bed on my recently acquired second plot - 3 wheelbarrow loads of weeds, old potatoes and stones removed.   Dug up the Purple sprouting brocolli,  leaved in the compost and the few remains spears fed to the chickens along with some rainbow chard and spinach taken from the lottie today.

Hoed the onion bed,  planted some sweet peas.  Lovely sunny day here in Surrey.

Planted out about 100 peas that i had sown at home and created their supports.

Gave a quick how around all the beds - really pleased how they look for this time of year. Scraped out any weeds from the paths.

Lit a fire and then watched it burn out!!!  :tongue2:

Went back later to water some things i sowed earlier in the week.

Came home and drunk red wine

Moved and levelled a tonne of pea shingle to make the paths around my raised beds in my garden. Frightened off a cane robbing scumbag as well.

Planted my first and second early potatoes.

Moved the pea support to this year's bed.

OH spent all day digging out the ground for a large raised bed where the much awaited fruit cage is going to go.  Need to finish this soon as the fruit will take root in their temporary home if they wait around for much longer.  More piles of old rubble, glass and horsetail.  It seems never ending.

OH also constructed a giant soil sieve from galvanised mesh and some left over bits of wood.

Petty theft continues apace on the plot, with various small items going missing - seed trays, bags of compost etc.  Neighbour layed in wait last night and "surprised" a would be brass tap thief complete with hacksaw at about 8 pm.  He allegedly wanted a drink of water!

I admired my lovely loose soil after forking it over. (First year that I have really started to notice that my soil is nice enough. Persistence pays off)

I half thought about covering my meteor peas, but it is not going to be quit so cold here now, so I let them be.

Planted some of my First and Second Earlies; Home Guard, Edgecote Purple and Salad Blue today. Noticed that a couple of onions had been nibbled and watched on later as a rabbit vaulted the fence and quickly went back again using a pile of twitch to effect a clean get away. Twitch pile and various "assists" removed.
