Took the rotovator to both plots today, gave both a quick once over, then redid a section in the other direction and planted my potato's. 5 hours of work, now I ache.

Take care with the tomatoes.... keep an eye on the weather forecast unless you can be sure the tunnel is frost free.  ;)

Brillliant.

It has been pretty mild down here too but I don't trust our weather one bit. Just as soon as you think there's a warm streak on it's way the cold belts back again sometime before May!  ;)

This is my first year at all this so i'm very keen to grow stuff.......ill be watching for the weather reports and down there if i think there will be frost .....raping them up and the heaters on.....the reason there in there now is i live in a flat and they were all over the kitchen floor...the other half going crazzy with me to move them

Not the allotment, but in a sheltered spot in my home garden, I've started the Great Mushy Pea Experiment, as inspired by a discussion on another thread.

I've sown  a packet (250g) of "Bigga" dried peas to see what we get.

I'll probably try one half cooked as fresh peas, (if they make it to the pot) and the other half I'll leave to dry to make my own mushy peas. (Theory).
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Took up all the remaining leeks, which were mainly the very expensive sort ie skinny and small

Planted the last ten of the strawberry plants for the new patch

Put in our first early potatoes -- only 24 in the bed, but it'll be enough for us, before th others come along

(Would have done more but it rained all morning)

dd i tried some bigga peas last year, they were quite sweet when picked early but when left a bit longer they were rather dry and bitter,im trying a brand of mushy peas called "LEO" this year so il let u know the outcome.

well finally put the strawberries in their permanent bed as they had to be moved (twice now and they didn't like me much as it was !!) they have been in strawberry growbags by the conservatory since october, fingers crossed but they seemed to have excellent roots and only lost 2 out of about 40 so not bad !!  :D

dug over the rhubarb bed and loads of eelworm  (i say loads at least 20 in a 3ft by 5ft bed) going potato fishing tomorrow!!  :tongue2:

Then the rain began but hubby managed to source some netting to finish the fence so will be able to take muttley with us soon woohoo!!!  :D

dig dig dig dig digging, rid me of those little weeds....

Potato eelworm is microscopic, so unless you have very good eyesight, they're something else!
