Went to have a look not a lot I can do at the moment while the weed killer takes effect. So I made a list of the slabs that I have got waiting to be put down.

Got a bag and picked up chalk the left over bits of metal after our huge bonfire last week
All the way from my allotment in beautiful Derbyshire. I'm in year 3 of my allotment and wish I'd caught the bug years ago, things growing from strength to strength

Repotted the blueberry and currant bushes.
Planted early onwards peas in an unheated greenhouse
Planted tomatoes indoors - sungold, tigerella, ildi and marmande
Harvested leeks, chard and kale to have for tea

Nearly swore as something has destroyed the main head of 1 of my rhubarb and pulled some small leaves of the other!!!

Cleared more bramble and weeds.  Made plans to collect manure on Sunday.  Rescued a Wagtail from a vacant plots fruit cage.

Helped another allotmenteer lift the biggest rhubarb crown I ever seen.  About the size of a beachball   She divided it and kindly gave me another crown

Finished (as far as I could) re-installing the galvanised edges to the allotment.  When taken over (first tennant) the allotments were a selection of trapeziums (trapezoids) ?
The council workman must have been geometrically challenged.              !

After informing the town 'all that I was going to 'square up' my allotment I re-installed the edges as they had been walked upon and sunk allowing the grass to grow over the top and into the allotment.  Of skip diving tomorrow to find more galv' tin off cuts.    Cheers,     Tony.
I may be growing OLD, but I refuse to grow UP !

Dug in the last of the overwintering rye grass green manure. Checked the red onions that have been slow overwinter; four or  five were rotten, the rest are OK!
Planted a horseradish root that a neighbour finally dug up as his "Kill Campaign" had failed miserably. Looked more like the mandrake out of "Pan's Labyrinth!"

Typically enough, it was a grand day until knocking off time at work, when it started lashing. So instead of my favourite leg it to the plot on Friday, I went to the garden centre. I bought a lupin and a delphinium. On my way out it had brightenened a little so I went up the plot and spent ten happy minutes putting them in. I think they will do just fine in the shade by the compost bins!  ::)

If it were me I'd plonk some slug bait around them in the near future.  ;)

More digging and weeding.  Made a chicken wire enclosure for my rhubarb as my neighbours was eaten as well last night.

Introduced myself to two new allotmenteer families starting on their new patches.  Gave one family a large pallet as they had no front fence and people where letting their dogs 'use' it.......

Sent the OH to dig bean trenches and turn over the potato plot. :D

I have been planting seeds at home in the little paper pots.

I planted broad bean plants on the lotty.  :)

just dug over a 9ft by 15ft area, now i have a reasonable sized area t grow in ( 9 ft by 30ft) so that will e enough for two 7ft by 4ft beds and three 8ft by 4ft beds, on top of the two beds that i already have (2ft by 20ft and 4ft by 8ft) so i have 7 beds in total. then my neighbours daughter in law offered me some manure the next time she gets some. so overall a very productive day in the sun!
