Dug out a load of nettles, stones and couch from part of the plot.

Then used the mantis tiller my daughter bought me for Christmas to break down the soil.

Made quite a good job of it .

Nothing as it's chucking it down
All the way from my allotment in beautiful Derbyshire. I'm in year 3 of my allotment and wish I'd caught the bug years ago, things growing from strength to strength

Delivered some poly carb sheets I found in a skip (I always ask) and made 2 kneeler pads from kids toy jigsaw type foam matting from the same skip..  Also found a fiberglass hole cover like contractors use to cover holes and trenches so you can walk over them so cut it into 2 and made kneeling boards for using when planting and pulling weeds.. also covered them with the foam matting. So i can now burn the old bit of rotten plywood I was using to kneel on.!!
Now a member of the 10 Ton club.... 2013  harvested 588 Kg from 165 sq mt..

Lucky - I just spent a fair bit of cash on buying some new!

Yesterday I levelled up the greenhouse and fitted the 'anchors' - it'll be concreted in next.

Herb - try your local window fitters.. they could be replacing roof sheets on conservatories.. thats where mine were from..

I checked on a beer trap in my cold frame. It had eight small slugs :-) unfortunately ten peas i had sown in pots in the cold frame had been nibbled and vanished by the look of it. oh well back to starting things off at home. cold here today.

Ten peas wouldn't get you very far anyway!

One for the rook, one for the crow, one to rot and one to grow!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Loads more digging, also clearing up and weeding under the apple tree where I plant my salads. Decided to clear out all the planter boxes and found a not so welcome surprise in on buried deep in the soil was a nest of straw and out jumped a rodent and hopped off. I'm sure it wasn't a rat and too big to be a mouse but it scared the life out of me, scream life a little girl. hehe
Dig it!!!! ♥♥ :)

That sounds very similar to my great-uncle's Somerset saying... works well!

dig weed dig weed etc etc

Warm enough for my 'allotment shorts' again.  Getting excited about holiday and worried that I'll not have the plot ready for when I'm home in equal measures!

Great to see buds everywhere swelling and bursting!!  Red current, black current, raspberry, rhubarb all going great guns
