Set up seven mini raised beds I intend to use for salad crops and carrots. Replaced a broken pane of glass in one of the greenhouses. Bit more weeding. Had a walk round to have a nosy what was going on on some of the other plots and chatted to a few of the other plot owners. Really enjoyable few hours in the glorious sunshine.

Bit gutted as I found out the secretary has arranged a 20tonne drop of compost for tomorrow and plot holders can help themselves at a cost of £1 a barrow load. I will be stuck in work! Just hope there is some left for me at the weekend  :(

Not on the plot, but sowed my chilli seeds for this year when I got home after picking my youngest up from school. All in all a satisfying and productive day.

at a cost of £1 a barrow load.

That seems a bit expensive. We have just had some 8 ton loads delivered at £30 per load.
We charged the tenants £10 for around 50 barrow loads. Everyone had plenty.

Shifted a ton of horse muck into a temporary compost bin. Dug a couple of beds over and added some well rotted chicken manure...had lots of cups of tea and chats with other folk and helped one one of the old guys to carry some timber to his plot. now very tired and going to the loo a lot  ::)

Absolutely fuming >:(

Went to plant some seed trays and ..................................................
found out that the allotment holders were burgled on saturday night/sunday morning.

I was one of the unlucky ones, got no tools to work with now and heard that someone's seeds had been nicked too.
A novice gardener and looking forward to getting seriously fit with my allotment!

The allotment is 16 ft wide and roughly 90 ft long split into 8 plots!

filled some more compost bins with well rotted manuar so i can grow my squash out of them this year, added another 4in layer of manuar to the last bed, built some hoop tunnels for my brassicas and 1 for my carrots and had a really good tidy up, oh and i ordered some enviromesh to cover the carrots when they go in.

Dug over two of the raised beds and removed more couch grass. Also weeded the couple of rows of garlic and the strawberry patch.  Chatted to a couple of plot holders. It was a beautiful sunny afternoon.

A friend turned up just before I was off to the plot so, having borrowed some boots, off we went to
to the plot.

Brambles were lifted bodily from the soil, bindweed was carefully sifted.  Overall we lifted a trug and black bag of nastiness.

Also arranged with 2 other allotmenteers to collect organic horse poo on friday - cant wait

Dug over my beds with the overwintering rye grass and tares; soil as clean as a whistle. Warm and pleasant in the spring sunshine. Watched the woodpeckers.  8)

Scratched my head in trying to work out where i can squeeze some extra room out of the rapidly filling greenhouses.
The schoolkids had a walk around the village taking pictures of "local landmarks" and when they stopped to take one of our newly finished garden i felt quite proud, Nearly as proud as my 5 year old who was in the class, and let everybody know, "thats my garden"!! :)

Hired myself a nice young man to do some labouring in the garden for the next three days. ;)  Disassembled the bits of my new greenhouse that were put up wrongly, built and laid the base for it in it's proper place.  He shifted loads of gravel for my pathways which look fab now.

Very worried that I might be building a rather large kite as it's a polycarb greenhouse.

It is good to get things into shape after not growing much at all last year due to circumstance.
