muscovy ducks
« on: March 02, 2010, 07:36 »
i have 3 ducks , the two females have started to fight, i have only seen it once last night but i ended up stopping the strong female from going near the weaker one till she had calmed down. they are happy together now free ranging the garden. one of the females is holding one of her eyes half shut no discharge just slightly puffy, do you think it would be ok to leave her and see how she goes. she is not tame  so i thought the stress of netting her wouldnt help. really unsure what do to for the best.

sorry like Lizzie I know nothing about ducks either but if it is still bad then perhaps a trip to the vet may be in order.

i have taken the bully away today and a friend is looking after her for me for a 2 weeks. the other girl is much more relaxed since the other female went and i am hoping she will start to feel better now the stress has been removed. she is still holding her eye half shut but i think it looks a bit better today still no infection or discharge. because i would have to net her to catch her , i have decided to give her till friday and a chance just to rest and hope she improves before i stress her even further by taking her to the vet. she is eating really well today and i have been catching slugs for her as i thought a protein boost would help her lucky enoughi have an allotment where i seem to have a lot of slugs.i just now have to decided what to do with the brown female that i have taken away.
