I'm having second thoughts about these. I reckon they draw water out of the compost and dry the plants out. I think plastic are better.
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

Me too unless you keep them on capillary matting. Also I think if the tops are over soil level when planted they wick up the water out of the soil,

when you plant out the peat pot, you need to rip off the first inch or so. that way there is no pot showing above ground level to act as a wick.
the ripped off bits can go to the compost bin.
recycled plastic pots are a better bet, along with pots made from newspaper, as peat is getting a bit scarce :D

I managed to get some fibre ones, which I have found really good, although I do sit them in 1/2 cm of water, the compost seems about the right dampness and once their in the ground the disintergrat within a week, can't remember where I got them from though, but hey were pretty cheap £2 for 80 I think.

We must have gotten ours from the same supply, Bigbad. I've found some intact 2 yrs later. Must be some kind of super duper peat they use. I prefer the plastic pots, which I give to friends in need if I have too many.

Have so far found them to be cr@p. Mouldy and yes they stick out of the ground. I haven't had a plot long enough to find out how long they take to decompose...

True...I think the peat they use comes from France!
