hi guys

I planted my coli and brocoli earlier in the year, and all off a sudden all off them have died.  They seem to have no root left and the stalk seems ver very thin at the bottom.  This is the first time I have grown anything but not sure whats gone wrong?

Don't like to say it but have a look for small white grubs at the roots. It sounds like cabbage root fly.

Flies lay eggs around the base of the plant, these hatch and the larve munch on the roots. Plants loses roots, wilts and dies.

If it is then there appears very little that can be done, will need to not grow brassicas for 3 years. Even then it may not really help as the fly itself will home in when you do plant brassicas the next time. Eggs/larve can be dormant for a few years hencethe 3 years no-grow period.

thanks for that.  I also have three rows off cabages right next to the coli and brocoli which has died however the cabbage is growing big style. should i be worried about that or should i dig it out and replant it somewhere else.  I have dug around the area of the dead plants but cant seem to find anything?
