Is it normal for new arrivals to not eat much?
« on: May 03, 2009, 14:59 »
The ladies, who arrived yesterday, have been doing an awful lot of moping in the coop today and don't seem to have really touched their pellets a lot this morning. I am wondering if it is just settling in, they don't like the feeder (a galvanised one with an umbrella, which looks pretty low to me), a severe dislike of noise (petrol lawnmowers and a spot of hammering), or gleefully eating the grass that (currently) adorns their run. Or possibly a combination of all four? Any suggestions?

we just got our new ones on friday and they're basically doing the same.
they huddled into a dark corner for the first two days and today they've been slowly and gently exploring the run.
but they're running back under whenever anyone comes near!!
the first day they ate hardly anything and their poos were gross - a couple of lumps but mostly liquid.
they're just getting used to their new surroundings - best thing is to dot some small bowls with food in around the run and let them find them.
