I suggest a search on leeks would bring better results for you.

Here's the link referred to...

Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I consider the invention of the English dictionary to be the blackest day in world history, it condemned hundreds of really intelligent people like me to menial jobs or even becoming politicians.

So I will spell it Leak, sometimes Leek or even sometimes the old Saxon way of Leic or Liec when I want to, so there  :tongue2:

But if you want to do a search then using LEEK is probably best  ;)

dwarf beans... I grew borlotti beans for late harvest last year after my earlies came up

Liking this idea a lot  :D
When did you harvest them? Did you have to cloche the plants later in the season? Sorry for the questions but I would like to know what I am letting myself in for if I do this  -- I have more 'spud space' than I will need for leeks

No cloches... just cut the plants and hung them up in the greenhouse to dry the pods.

The beans are also a 'green manure' in the nitrogen fixing capability

Thank you for that. I've never put them in that late so am glad to hear that you still get worthwhile crop  :D

Hiya

My potatoes are growing in big pots, buckets, potato bags, you name it, lol. They're all in 5 year old manure, so can I grow my leeks on in them after I dig up my potatoes?

I'm happy to just pop one in each pot, cos I've got 40 pots and I've planted my leeks a little too close in a raised bed so was hoping to move some on...

Would love advice,
Thanks
Herbie

I WAS planning on putting beans in after mine, but more recently I have decided to grow a bean screen so I can't see the old fella across from me but that's a whole other story ::)

I think Leeks will go in mine too :D

Not saying you can't use LEIC's because anything is possible, but the point of using LEEK's in an area already used for early spuds, is that the LEAK's are a winter crop so don't need to go in early anyway and then they sit all winter, pots and tubs may well freeze solid and be a problem, you could look at the Bean option, sow the beans now in pots, and then plant out when ready.

PS Please excuse speelling  :)

Still plenty of time for mildew if you sow peas late. (You may get lucky!).
