At the plot on Christmas morning.
Leeks parsnips and sprouts all planted at the edge so I did not have to walk on the soil.
The place is soaked through standing water in places . I only hope it dries out for spring.
A merry Christmas to you all.

Didn't make it to the plot this Christmas day morning as the rain was torrential. Hoping to go tomorrow and harvest Brussel sprouts. Missed them on the dinner plate today
I have my own cement mixer and not afraid to use it!!

I didn't get there either...  :( thumping head so stayed in bed longer than I had intended.

Fed up, literally! so needed a walk to the plot. The water is going down a bit, it was dry enough in the raised beds to start planting out the garlic that I put in pots in November. All plants so far have very little top growth but nice healthy looking roots sticking out the bottom of the pots. Got too dark so will go back tomorrow, weather permitting.

walked down and thought I'd lift a few Oca to see what's happening. They were very small and the you could hear the soil squelch as I raised a forkful - YUK - this is going to take weeks to drain away!
I'm so glad my plot's not a the bottom of the site............

Too wet here for mucking about in the river on the plot.

So wet even on our little plot at the end of the garden that the foxes have given up digging in it.  :nowink:

Stood and stared. Couldn't do much else as the ground is so wet.

N ot even worth thinking about it due to the rain, getting a bit worried though now due to not having managed to turn the first spade of rough digging yet! >:(

finished off planting the garlic, put back a few onions that the birds had taken a fancy to, but more rain overnight mean't tide was in, so no more to do.
The last two celeriac came up with a big squelch, now nothing more left that is worth anything ie.skinny leeks and tiny cabbages.

Hi,

So inspired by your comments that I'm going out to finally plant to garlic I bought weeks ago.

It's only rain and gale force wind!!! Wish me luck :-)

Good luck Caroline, I popped to the plot today just to harvest a few things, most of my garlic is in but I do have about 20 cloves of Marco from last years crop that is now shooting so I thought I would put it in but I must admit I wimped out.
Optimism probably a gardeners best tool.

Put a net over broadbeans in back garden, they have just come through and some thing
( birds ) have started to attack them.
Then  went to allotment which is very wet and moved a ton or so of stable manure which had been delivered by a good friend, luckily I manged the task from the paths.
Retired but never short of a job.

Thanks... I chose to plant in pots in the greenhouse because I am a few weeks late. It was lovely in there with the wind and the rain outside :-), funny how small things can restore calm! Now... how to get an allotment!

Took the opportunity while it was dry and mild to join all my water butts together, i also made sure  the tarpaulin is secure because it's getting windy
