just thought I'd share my latest idea to store my onions in a more compact set up to save on space
just tied them round a wire hanging basket - got at least 60 onions on each basket 

if any others of you have any good tips for storage of garden produce and all lotty storage ideas please post . always looking to pinch a good idea

Such a good idea! I plaited mine this year but I think I may pinch this idea for next year...

Very convenient Barley. Just go along and snip some off as you need them. We used to do all sorts like plait them and stuff like that. Now I'm lazy and just chuck them in a net bag and hang that from a 4" nail in the shed. Not nearly as much fun. Do the same with garlic now as well.

Mine didnt really seem to end up with enough leaves once dried to do anything with, they just got chopped 'orf and put in boxes.

Excellent idea, barley.

I saved the little wood boxes that clementines were shipped in and use those to store onions and garlic in my cold cellar. They stack easily and bottom slats allow good air circulation.
