Can anyone recommend some cell tray inserts (the 24 or 40 cell ones). I've been looking around but it's hard to know the quality. I would like to be able to reuse them! I have a feeling the ones at the pound store wouldn't last more than a season.

I use this sort (2 x 20 = 40!).

Now on their 5th or 6th year. They are very sturdy and you don't even have to put them in a seed tray.

Best way is to feel them if you can. The cheap thin greyish ones that make a kind of crackly noise when you press them will maybe do a year or two, more if you are careful and don't leave them exposed to direct sunlight. Same thing goes for cheap plastic pots. If you get the black ones that are a bit thicker, they are more expensive, but by no means expensive, and will last at least three times as long.

Poundland ones last a season  but then for a pound I dont expect anymore.
Wilkos ones are a few pence more but last two years plus.
I am looking for new ones this year although I have started using pots instead as we picked up 700 free on freecycle

I bought a bucket load from them 6 years ago - Im only having to renew them now which I think makes them far more value for money than the discount store ones you can see through.  The only word of caution is 1 size does not fit all, they may not fit nicely in a propogator.

What is with people and their stupid delivery charges on ebay.... does 10 20 cell half sized seed trays really cost £4.40 to send second class?

They may not weigh much, but carriage charges are also size based.

Don't forget you also have to pay someone to pack them and the cost of the packing materials. You have to think a bit further than posting your own letter.

That size parcel will be about £3 plus packaging and time etc... you can't complain at that price..

it's £2.60 so i guess a small box costs £1.80? You are only supposed to charge for postage + packaging on ebay. Nothing else. I know it's not a lot of money but it's the principle.

£2.60 is the minimum that royal mail charges - smallest parcel price available. Ebay allows you to charge for packaging etc... Anyway why quibble over a few quid when a beer probably costs nearly a fiver these days!! or a bar of choccie is nearly 3 quid..

I always stand by the saying if your not happy with it dont buy. I have once quibbled p and p on ebay because the woman charged me two lots of p and p and then posted together which you are NOT meant to do.

Her p and p and packing skills were poor. Lesson learnt.

For an extra pound you can get 20 trays instead of 10... so really you are halving the postage cost and adding a quid for more trays... result!!
