blind psb
« on: March 16, 2012, 15:44 »
This has been a strange year for my psb. I buy a tray of plants as I don't have room for many. This year they seem to be different. I have had some with spears and little leaf attached, some with more leaf than spear, and the stuff I picked today had no spear at all!

And to top it off, found another one of these little b...easties. I have dropped the psb in a white bowl of salty water....just in case! >:(

You haven't bought a variety of smooth leaved kale by accident have you?     Cheers,    Tony.
I may be growing OLD, but I refuse to grow UP !

No, it was just two out of twelve plants. It is shooting as normal, up the stem, just blind. Tastes a bit different too.

Perhaps you should wait a little longer. My PSB has not sprouted yet. It looks as though it will be another 10 days or so.

I had this one year devastated a full row of 12 plants.. small grub attacks plants when small just after seedling stage and eats the centre out when you cant see it you spend all season licking your lips and all round are picking psb but not you all you have is spring cabbage.
cant remember where I found the info about this beasty.
I'll beat this heavy clay yet. now almost there works well now
