This is my first year of growing peppers (and pretty much anything else really) and I started off from seeds back in Feb/March and proceeded to the greenhouse in mid March. I'm based in N Herts. The sweet peppers (Sweet Chocolate and Kaibi Round, a small bell type) are doing extremely well and have been producing loads of fruit for a couple of weeks now. I've been harvesting them at about what I guess is 1/2 to 3/4 size (still green) and leaving some on to ripen. Looking forward to the chocolate colour! Plant size for both is about 24-28", maybe a bit more for the chocolates.

I have two chillis, Pretty in Purple and Albertus Locoto (no typo). The PinP is similar to the picture posted above but not quite as developed. My fruit is still very definitely purple (no reds or other hues) and about 3/4 full size. Haven't picked any yet but almost did over the weekend. The Albertus is big but hasn't even flowered yet and shows no signs of doing so.

I did have a brief bug infestation in there. Still not sure what they were - tiny white wormy things. Sprayed a couple of times with organic oil stuff and moved lots of marigolds to the entrance of the GH. The hoverflies sorted it out.

I thought we weren't meant to feed chillis/peppers??  What should we feed them - tomorite or worm is what i have available.

Feed them tomato food when the peppers start developing :)

If the tiny white wormy thingies looked like this then they WERE hoverflies, only baby ones :) They are voracious eaters of pests so you're best leaving them alone.

You can use tomorite once a week. Remember don't over water peppers.

Or feed your plant at least once a week with a high potash fertiliser.

I feed my peppers when the flowers appear.

What NOT to do. NEVER drink water. Yogurt or milk is best.

Three posts in a row sorry pepperheads but you all might find this helpful.

I've never been able to over winter my peppers, this might be because my house faces N/S. An East facing aspect is best. If you fancy over wintering your peppers take a look at this web site for help. It's a good peppers site so take a look anyway.
