after disappearing (due to illness at the end of summer) i thought i should show my face,  plus i need to pick your brains!!

the current situation in my garden/mum's garden (still no lotty :( ) is this:  garlic seems to have grown nicely, cheap fruit plants from tesco (rapsberry and blueberry) seem to have survived the winter in the plastic green house.  and my onions are showing signs of growth again after slowing down over winter.

plans so far:  plant carrots and parsnips in between my onion rows.

but then without taking over the other half of the garden i am stuck for space.  at the end of the day tis still mum's garden and i think i should leave some ground for her veg!!

so i am determined to grow as much as i can in grow bags and pots (of any size!)

what have people had success with in such situations?

carrots . radishes  cucs, toms of course + aubergines lettuces  but use the compost in large pots from morrisons £ 1 for 8 last time i looked , bin liners for marrows n courgettes . mix bale plant compost with a bag sharp sand ad 4 ozs growmore and mix well .then use as normal soil feed where needed with more growmore later in season. cabbages can be grown in cut off lemonade bottles make a rack to stand em up in tho or surround with a brick wall . hope that helps

Welcome back, hope you`re feeling a bit better. You only need 2-3 courgette plants, the round ones seem to grow extremely well in pots.

I grew beetroot a couple of years ago in a plastic trough approx 8 inches deep and got a reasonable crop using the patio veg seeds.  They were a good size for pickling whole.
