Hi all,
Thanks for all your replies to my other posts.

I've been making a start of the chicken run today and found an ants nest. Do I need to get rid of it or will the chooks eat them, will they harm the chooks?

Hi Jan, sorry I don't know the answer having never had this problem, but I do know ants bite, and wood ands give off a type of acid (formic I think). Don't know if hens would eat ants.

just checked my old college books and yes it is formic acid that ants give off (if you annoy ants with something like a bluebell near them they will spray it - it's colour will change  ).

lol Joyful it's taken long enough for the OH to agree to some chooks don't know what he'd say to a duck but I can imagine
