potato help, when to harvest?

morning all, when i got my plot this year it was far too late to get any seed potato's and get them in, however oneday in the garden centre they had just got some in, "plant now, ready for Christmas" it said, so in they went in august, they grew very well and started to show a few flower buds. but the high winds over the last couple of weeks have battered them, most of the stems have broke and the foliage has now started to wilt. i have un earthed a couple from the ends of the rows and they look perfect if only a little small. when should i dig the lot up? i take it the norm, from what i have read is to wait untill they flower then die off but it dont look like they are going to get to flower now.

so they will continue to grow then even though the foliage has broken off?

ok mate cheers, you could be right about it recovering, it wilted when they snapped but have not got any worse since, think il see what happens with the weather as the frosts will finnish it off anyway

Our summer spuds took a right battering, heavy wind, heavy rain, I kept looking out and thinking blimey, theyre gonna be fit for nothing, but the foliage seems pretty hardy and soon righted itself - If its not totally destroyed - you might be pleasantly surprised?!
