Duffel coat shortage...
« on: October 22, 2022, 17:58 »
Mrs Growster has expressed a wish to buy a duffel coat for the winter!

They used to be so common in our youth, and indeed, she had a super one up until a few, (several) years ago, but we're trying to find another one, and they're not that easy to locate at all! The usual Google search turns up an occasional item, but does anyone here know where they're hiding please?

Ask Paddington and his followers as they have all  probably snaffled them.  :D

Ha ha ha, Wighty!

My dad had one back in the sixties, and it weighed a ton!

Mrs Growsters' was more 'feminine', but it still kept out the cold! Her mum had a sheepskin coat, (remember them), and eventually couldn't wear it because it was far too heavy!

Gone up market and become a luxury brand it seems Mr G.  This might be an investment buy, but these are the real deal.

Good afternoon growster, we have a duffel coat that's 55% wool 15% viscose? and 30% polyester.  Made in England dry clean only and there's label saying "38".

It's looking for a good home and I'd prefer it went to a fellow gardner than hanging on a rail in a charity shop.  This coat is available to anyone if growster dowesn't require it.  I'll look into taking a snap but don't hold your breath.

Cheers.  Tony.
I may be growing OLD, but I refuse to grow UP !

... plus the groats you've been saving up for a rainy day. I would send you my rose noble, several florins, plus a few threepenny bits if it would help. Please let me know by text as long as you have the bill payer's permission to do so.  :nowink:

That's very kind of you, Tony, thank you for the offer!

It seems Mrs Growster is cooling to the idea now - ladies' prerogative etc., and even seeing the fabulous site with the red and the blue hasn't caused her to leap up and down, so I'll either finish up with more money, and she'll keep her Barbour, or she may even decide against the whole issue.

Funny how these discussions flare up, then flicker and go out, but thank you again!
