Tayberry advice please!

I planted a new Tayberry earlier this year, so had some limited fruit. I know I have to cut down these old canes and tie up the new ones, however these new canes are growing to quite extreme lengths (over 2 metres long).
Question: Should I and can I prune these canes back a bit as they are starting to take over? If I do will it affect their growth and fruiting for next year?

Hello  we grow ours on a post and write frame then tie them in and loop them down onto the next wire ,if you have the space is this something you could do it does increase yield   jezza

We try and get our rasps to grow like that if we can, the Joan J don't really get tall enough, but some of the earlies can be tied as you suggest!

I had to leave our Tayberry on the old Patch, as there really isn't room here for it here, which is a shame, as a good ripe fruit taken without the white bit is just fantastic!
