Whats wrong with my lemon tree???
« on: October 23, 2010, 02:24 »
Hey all,

I got a lemon and orange tree this year and both apparently are ment to fruit next year. Both are doing really well and are now in my bathroom for the winter from today.

Anyway for the past 2-3months the lemon tree has had what looks like 'burn' to the very top few leaves. However all I have been feeding the two trees is citrus food and if anything i've been under doing it.

Heres a couple of pics.
1st pic shows the bulk of the lemon tree
2nd pic shows the 'burn' at the top of the lemon tree

Cheers, Alex

Looks like your plant is suffering from chlorosis, a yellowing problem due to poor photosynthesis and low iron. The 'burnt' edges are a further result of this problem which weakens plant tissue. For now, remove the plant from direct sunlight and stop watering with tap water, often a source of lime/alkalinity which adds to the plant's inability to absorb iron.

Here's more information on how to deal with it. Your garden centre should carry a product to help out your plant.
