which seeds need to be sown inside?
« on: April 10, 2013, 08:59 »
Hello everyone

Came back from hols last night so now I'm all set to sow.  Broad beans survived and the lettuce I left out in car port under fleece have done remarkably well too.

I'd like some advice on what to sow where.  I only have one south facing windowsill and my husband doesn't want seed trays all over the house so in my limited space what HAS to be sown indoors?

My other growing areas are a north facing back garden and east facing covered car port.

This is what I am planning to sow over next few weeks:

Tomatoes
Peas
PSB
Sweet peppers
Broccoli
Dwarf french beans
Marigolds
Poached Egg
Nasturtium
Basil
Courgette
Cucumber
Carrot

I've made newspaper pots for peas and anything else that doesn't like transplanting

Thanks for your help and if you need anything clarifying let me know

Peas don't need to be inside, nor do they need to be in pots - just sling them in!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Hi Flynn,

In this weather:-

Inside = Tomatoes, Sweet Peppers, Courgette, Cucumber and Basil.

The rest you'll probably be alright outside if space is at a premium.

When weeding, the best way to know if its a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull it.

If it comes out easy, it was a valuable plant !

tomatoes and peppers first followed by cucumbers and other squash family as they grow faster basil needs heat too. Nastursiums in pots outside or sow direct. Brassicas in modules outside cover to prevent pigeon damage. Carrots insitu frech beans inside in loo rolls do not plant out intil the frosts have finished as with the cues toms ect. poached eggs straight in the ground too.
