Gutted.... Blight on me toms :(
« on: August 16, 2009, 20:47 »
Had to pull the whole lot up and burn them today  :(

I was really looking forward to home made passata etc.   Looks like I'll have to resort to bordeaux mix next year

Oh NOOOOOOOOOO :( :( :(....  I am so sorry that you have the dreaded blight on your tomatoes, we are all waiting to see if we are the next affected...  It happens so quickly doesn't it?  I hope that you have some other crops that are doing great and partly make up for your losses...  Best of luck for next years tomatoes.... for everyone :)

Mine too.  Last year I had the same problem, but not until much later in the year.  I found the green ones to be very good cooked in pasta sauces, soups etc. - even pureed and froze some to use later!

There seems to be even more about than there was last year and that was more than bad!  :(

Weirdly I had to pull up some volunteer toms that decided to grow on one side of the garden, my patio toms, so far, about 20 foot away are unaffected - where's a "fingers crossed" avatar?  :D

A busy week at work so didn't get to the allotment until yesterday.....blight over my lovely tomatoes and potatoes...it's all over the allotment.

Loads of tomatoes unusable....and the rest in varying shades of yellow, green and slightly red are all on the windowsill. They're going to be made into a great garlicky adn red wine pasta sauce ......

i lost all of my toms to blight as well, about 50 plum tomato plants, i did managed to rescue two buckets of green toms however, just need to try and ripen them. the potatoes on the other plot seem fine however.

Ripped  out all my outdoor toms on Saturday, totally gutted. A waste of time this year.  :nowink:
I've acquired a greenhouse for next year, so hopefully this will mean no more outdoor toms for me!
