I have six pumkins growing well, they have all started flowering but they all seem to be females with small bulges beneath the flower. Will they set seed without any male flowers in the vicinity? Or do you get male and female flowers on the same plant? If that's the case then they need to get their act together cos these females dont look like they willing to hang about for long!

Pumpkins have male & females on the same plant. In common with marrows etc, it's often the case that the first fruit don't set, but don't panic - the men will be along soon!

If pumpkins are anything like courgettes, which they probably are, the first flush of flowers are usually female, the male flowers will be along soon - better late than never :!:
