hey,

i'll start by saying that i haven't got a clue. i've never grown anything by myself. however, a friend of mine has offered part of his garden so that my boyfriend and i can start growing veggies, and we really want to have a go.

i would like to know if the plot is large enough for a useful amount of veggies... it is about two car lengths long (i'm measuring it by the cars he's got parked alongside it!) and three metres-ish wide at one end, tapering down to about one metre wide at the other end. there is also a flowerbed about two metres long by 1/3 metre which we might grow things on.

it's quite a little space, but we'd like to grow enough to use in meals a few times a week, plus some for my friend for letting us use his garden of course! is this feasible?

Square foot gardening might be useful to read up on. But anything not too space consuming is on anyway, like beans, salads, roots.

Probably a bit more than I have and I love every little thing I get out of mine so would definately say yes, do it.
I grow courgettes, beans, salads, spinache and sprouts.
I also grow some stuff in containers which frees up some space. Potatoes in bags, tumbling toms ing baskets.

ah goddammit! was just talking to my friend with the garden and he's changed his mind because he wants to put a shed there now. gah! i live in a second floor flat and there aren't any allotments nearby so i guess my veg growing dreams are in tatters for now

if u have balcony u can always grow something in  pots etc....
