Cow muck instead of Horse muck

It is known that cows and horses eat grass, that also means they eat the weeds and the seeds from them. Cows have three stomachs which means that they digest the majority of the seeds. Horses only have one. It is known to find 3/4 apples in horse muck. If you have to have horse muck, make sure that it has straw in it instead of wood shavings!

:D The bottom line is that if you use horse muck you are more likely to get weeds than using cow muck :D

I've used Horse muck with shavings in it for years and never had any weeds from it,if you get it from a big muck pile thats well rotted then the heat generated from this will have killed any weed seeds.

You'll have a job finding any cow muck that's sufficiently rotted as farmers chuck it on their fields almost fresh and don't leave it hanging around long enough to rot down sufficiently to be of any use for your garden. :D

The moral of gardening is - take what you can get, moreso if it's free. I've not found a problem with shavings or straw mixed into muck, fresh or aged. Just depends on the season you add it.

As for the apple, the only reason I would not pick it up, wash it and eat it is because if it is too sour for the hos, it is too sour for me.

We use cow muck but it has been in a pile on our plot for a year. We will use that then ask our neighbourly farmer to drop us some more over the wall.

Actually, cows have only one stomach, but it has four chambers. Its digestive tract is, however, much longer than a horse's, as it the process of digestion.

cheers,

We get manure delivered straight to the plot from the stables in sacks  I grew courgettes on top of the sacks quite successfully, just rolled the sack down a bit and popped a plant in. Jabbed a few holes in the sacks and they grew just fine
